Discovering Dedication and Faith: An Interview with Chris from DE

Contributed by Chris Heeb

Chris, a St. Louis native, shares his journey from chiropractor to his current role at DE, his passion for his work, and the things that bring him joy and fulfillment outside of the office.

Chris and his wife Kathy, along with his two sets of twins, have called St. Louis home for years. Reflecting on his time at DE, he mentions that he’s been with the company for about 2.5 years. Before joining DE, Chris led a life filled with golf and travel alongside his wife, and he practiced chiropractic care for over two decades.

One of the key reasons Chris loves working at DE is the company’s creed: Faith, Family, Community. He finds deep meaning in his work, which revolves around inspiring inactive Catholic families to reconnect with the Catholic Church through the magazines DE produces.

When asked about his favorite book and movie, Chris mentions “The Sound of Healing” by Michael S. Tyrrell as his favorite book, and “Brian’s Song” as his top movie pick.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys a variety of pastimes. From childhood memories of spending time in the gym due to his father’s involvement in athletics to more recent activities like watching thunderstorms and enjoying wave runner adventures on the Lake of Ozarks, Chris embraces life with enthusiasm.

Dreaming of living in picturesque locations like Kiawah Island, South Carolina, Pinehurst, North Carolina, or Leavenworth, Washington, Chris reveals his affinity for serene and beautiful settings.

For Chris, a day without coffee from a French press with half and half is unthinkable. It’s a daily ritual that fuels his energy and sets the tone for the day ahead.

Summer traditions hold a special place in Chris’s heart. Whether it’s attending outdoor concerts under the stars, enjoying quiet evenings by the lake at Innsbrook, or immersing himself in the vibrant atmosphere of the Whittaker Jazz Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden, Chris cherishes these moments.

When it comes to prayers or devotions, Chris finds solace in reciting the Divine Mercy Chaplet, often using the Hallow App with his wife. Despite occasionally falling asleep before it concludes, Chris finds comfort in knowing that the angels will complete it on his behalf.

Reflecting on his journey, Chris offers advice to newcomers in the business world. He emphasizes the importance of focusing on the mission, trusting in God’s guidance, and maintaining resilience in the face of rejection.

Through Chris’s story, we’re reminded of the power of faith, dedication, and finding joy in both work and life’s simple pleasures. His journey from chiropractor to DE employee is a testament to the transformative power of following one’s passion and embracing new opportunities with an open heart and mind.
